    SCO, CANRI's main technology provider, congratulates CANRI on receiving a Commendation in the Premier's 2001 Public Sector Awards, held at Australian Technology Park Redfern on Monday evening, November 26th, 2001. 04 December 2001


  • CANRI Join OGC Web Services Initiative
    Wayland, MA, USA, December 12, 2001 - The Open GIS Consortium, Inc. (OGC) announces that Community Access to Natural Resources Information (CANRI) has joined the OGC Web Services Initiative (OWS). OWS is part of OGC's Interoperability Program, which aims to build an evolutionary, standards-based framework that will enable seamless integration of a variety of online geoprocessing and location services. CANRI is responsible for providing key environmental information over the Web from government agencies and other organizations in New South Wales, Australia. 13 December 2001


  • New OGC standards conformance testing service in the pipeline
    Social Change Online recently started development of an online compliance testing facility. The service, to be called "Conform-IT", will allow software developers and application builders to check that their work fully conforms with the new global standards for the publishing of spatial information to the web. 22 December 2001


  • OGC Announces Kick Off of OGC Web Services Initiative
    Development of workable tools for using the interoperability afforded from the new range of international web serving and spatial data standards. All this will be built into the ASDI implementation. ANZLIC supports local involvement in this initiative, including the work of the ANZLIC SDI Technical Working Group and partners in the registry services project. 06 November 2001


  • OGC approves latest WMS and WFS specifications
    OGC, the Open GIS Consortium, at its 38th Technical Committee meeting in Vancouver, Canada, approved two new interoperability specifications: Web Map Server (WMS) 1.1.1 and Web Feature Server (WFS) 1.0.0. SCO's Rob Atkinson, contributor to both specifications, attended the Vancouver meeting, and reports back to the Australian spatial community 12 December 2001


  • OpenGIS Consortium work
    OpenGIS Web Map Server Interface Specification Released This specification represents a remarkable technical and commercial breakthrough. Now the Web is "spatially enabled." By itself, this is an extraordinarily useful capability, but it also provides a foundation for interoperability involving more sophisticated geoprocessing capabilities. http://spatialnews.geocomm.com/dailynews/2000/may/09/opengis.html 23 May 2000


  • SCO hosts first international Geotools symposion
    In October, Social Change Online hosted the first international Geotools symposium, with participation from the Centre for Computational Geography (CCG) , the TimeMap project and Social Change Online 13 November 2001


  • SCO receives AURISA award
    SCO's Maurits van der Vlugt won the Best Presented Paper award at AURISA 2001, the annual conference of the Australasian spatial information industry. Maurits' presentation covered some of the company's recently developed products, including the Web Map Composer 28 November 2001
