Web Feature Server
Social Change Online has created a specialised implementation of the OpenGIS Web Feature Server to support a range of applications that normal GIS systems are not cost-effective or flexible enough to handle.
WFS-Lite is the right solution for you if:
- You have large amounts of "observations" based data - e.g. large sample databases or time-series data
- You wish to manage hierarchical vocabularies as well
- You wish to use a legacy database system containing only locations (point data)
- You have a simple requirement for point based data and dont want to spend large amounts of money on GIS functions you dot need
- You want to perform customised pre-processing (such as creating counts of records on a grid cell basis to reduce data transfer overheads
