WebMap Composer 1.0.3 Release Note31 January 2003, Build r1_43stable
Operating EnvironmentWebMap Composer is a Java application; its server component requires a J2EE Servlet 2.3 and Java Server Pages 1.2 compliant application server. Social Change Online can assist customers requiring deployment to a platform other than that listed below, eg by a joint QA and remediation program. A number of Web Map Copmoser sites operate on Solaris 8 platforms in this way. Testing EnvironmentThis release has been tested and found to run satisfactorily on the platforms below. Other platforms will be added as we test against them. Operating System. Anecdotally, Windows XP SP1 performs without fault. Tomcat Application Server. Note! Please see the mandatory activation.jar workaound in the install note. Java Virtual Machine. Browsers. WMC 1.0.3 also supports Internet Explorer 5.0, although this is no longer supported by Microsoft. 3) Netscape Navigator 4.7x Evaluation EnvironmentTo evaluate WebMap Composer functions, you will require software from the Testing Environment, above, on at least a Pentium III with 256MB RAM. Changes Since the Previous ReleaseService Pack 1Please refer to the installation note for details on obtaining Service Pack 1, which corrects a packaging error whereby a saved view called "default" referenced a gazetteer not included in the war file - resulting in a servlet exception when using this view. Known LimitationsIssues to be addressed in WMC 1.1The following issues may be encounted by users. They are being addressed in WMC 1.1. Please use the feedback link provided on the WMC default header to report any additional bugs or suggestions. Panning or zooming the main map at full world view: ie with long/lat extents of -180/180,-90/90 will typically produce an error response in the corresponding web map server and may hang the browser. The first entry in a Gazetteer list describes the list; selecting it may hang the browser. If the current top most layer is not visible, the addition of the new WFS layer may fail. Currently this must be done through the file system, (due to dependency issues). See the FAQ. Changing map tools, eg info to zoom or making a layer active for info refreshes the entire page. The J2SDK 1.4.1_01 treatment of parametrised style sheets has changed - preventing the feature info tool from functioning correctly. This will be addressed in WMC 1.1. |
