A critical first step is an easy-to-understand website that allows environmental decision makers; consultants; land holders; academics; students; the public to discover what species are where and when. When the NPWS asked us to create a web interface for their wildlife sightings data we put them on the map using online base maps from other agencies. A unique feature of the Wildlife Atlas is the "Taxonomy Search Engine". It allows rapid identification of an exact taxa grouping, from Species to Phylum - then geographic visualisation of this information on a map. The Atlas integrates base data from AUSLIG, National Parks boundaries from the National Parks and Wildlife Service as well as endangered species sightings and taxonomic database from the Australian museum. All databases reside with the responsible organizations in their native formats. Take a look at;
